THE CABLE CAR

As you can see, Carpenter Creek is really a river. The trestle that once crossed at Alamo Siding is long gone, so now we cross on this cable car. Just hook your bike on the side and away you go, pulling yourself across. It's a fun ride, and it definitely beats getting wet.

This important link in the local trail system was installed by volunteers in 1997. Now it's possible to go from New Denver to Three Forks, Sandon, Idaho Peak and beyond without riding on the highway.

Another important local trail goes north from Rosebery to Nakusp. And work is being done on the old K&S rail bed to connect Sandon with Kaslo.
